Feeling Flushed Part Two [Jan. 28th, 2011|12:18 pm]

Looks like that exposé of the HIV internet dating industry I talked about writing yesterday won’t see the light of day. I wrote it, but then thought better of it. Essentially I have too many community connections to feel safe about putting it out there.

I have on the other hand, a nice post over on PositiveLite today about the role of social media in HIV work. In it I recount the tale of how I really felt that the use of social media had arrived in Nanookville last night. It’s here.

... or "The Order of Business, No. 2"

That is a very orderly looking facility. Although, the echo could be deafening.

To many community connection to the screwball HIV internet dating industry? I feel like I'm missing something.

I think you should put it out there when it's like you say it is. But then I don't know the whole story :-)

Unfortunately I know some of the players, even have an indirect business relationship with them. So you don't want to bite the hand that feeds you . .

Yeah. I can see that. It seems to be a story that's worth being told though, is it worth checking with your editors about proceeding in someway?

I used to run into similar issues when writing for the Eurovision Song Contest press. But then it was more whether we could say someone sang woefully out of tune or not (while hoping for passes to their concert). So kind of a different thing. I fell on the wrong side of being cautious though and I no longer write for the Eurovision Song Contest press. So take everything I suggest here with a grain of salt :-)
